State Attorney's duties in USKOK are performed by the Head who manages the work of the Office and the Deputy Heads.
The Head and Deputy Heads are assigned to work in USKOK from the ranks of state attorneys and deputy state attorneys.
The Head is appointed for a term of four years by the State Attorney General with the prior opinion of the Minister of Justice and the opinion of the collegiate body of the State Attorney's Office of the Republic of Croatia.
Deputy Heads are assigned to work in the Office by the State Attorney General on the proposal of the Head, also for a period of four years.
Upon the expiration of the term of office, the Head and Deputy Heads may be reappointed or, otherwise, returned to the State Attorney's Offices in which they worked before being assigned to USKOK.
The Head of USKOK and all Deputy Heads, due to the seriousness and complexity of the work they are engaged in, are subject to security checks and asset checks before their appointment.
All persons employed in the Office are subject to the security checks.
